Why Self-Trust Is the Most Magical Thing You Can Cultivate Right Now
Apr 28, 2025
(a love letter to the rebel magic you forgot was already yours)
You already have everything you need.
There’s this sneaky little lie the world loves to tell you, that you’re somehow missing something vital.
That you need another diploma, another certification, another five-step program, another makeover, another “guru” telling you how to live your life properly, before you’re finally allowed to feel worthy, powerful, magical.
Before you’re finally allowed to trust yourself.
And if you’re anything like me, you probably believed that for a long time.
I mean, how could we not? It’s everywhere. Whispered in school corridors. Printed in women's magazines. Screamed across social media with shiny ads and better cheekbones than most of us have time for.
But love, let’s set the record straight right here, right now:
✨ You already have everything you need.
✨ You don’t have to earn the right to trust yourself.
✨ You don’t have to jump through flaming hoops or do a perfect morning routine or apologise for existing first.
You. Are. The. Magic.
What self-trust really means
Self-trust isn’t some grand mystical thing reserved for monks meditating on mountaintops (although, you know, props to them too).
It’s way more everyday, way more gritty, way more deliciously rebellious than that.
Self-trust is the quiet belief, tucked into your ribcage somewhere between your heart and your gut, that says:
“I’ve got me.”
“I trust what I feel.”
“I believe what I know, even when nobody else claps.”
“I can stand by my thoughts, my creativity, my full messy self.”
It’s relaxing into your own presence, instead of living on the tightrope of everyone else’s expectations.
It’s knowing that you are safe, because you have your own damn back.
My own messy road back to myself
Now, I won’t sit here and pretend I woke up one day, hair cascading in perfect waves, birds singing Disney songs around me, and suddenly decided, today I shall trust myself! 😂
No, no, no.
My journey to self-trust was more like a slow, chaotic, magical rebellion.
It looked like realising, that I had spent years handing out permission slips for my own existence.
That I had been scanning the room, looking for someone (anyone!) to say, "yes, you're good enough".
That I had been building my life around other people’s opinions, other people’s measurements, other people’s approval. And no matter how hard I tried, it never, ever filled the gnawing emptiness inside.
And one day, when I was so far from myself I barely recognised my own heart beating, I just said... "enough".
Not in a dramatic way.
But in that quiet, bone-deep way where you realise you’re either going to start choosing yourself, or you’re going to stay stuck forever.
Self-trust wasn’t a light switch. It was a thousand tiny decisions.
A thousand moments of saying, “Actually, I know what’s best for me.”
A thousand times of feeling the fear, the guilt, the old conditioning, and taking one tiny rebellious step toward myself anyway.
And let me tell you: those steps added up to freedom.
Why self-trust is so radical right now
Now, in case you’re wondering why cultivating self-trust right now feels like swimming upstream against an ocean of noise, it’s not because you’re bad at it.
It’s because the world needs you not to trust yourself.
Think about it: if you trusted yourself completely, how many things would you stop buying, chasing, fearing, shrinking for?
Right...?
Self-trust dismantles the systems that profit off your doubt.
Self-trust is dangerous to the people who want to control you.
Self-trust is rebellion, and the most beautiful kind.
When you trust yourself, you become less manipulatable.
Less apologetic.
More vibrant.
More free.
You create from the inside out, not the outside in.
What grows when you trust yourself
And what happens when you really start trusting yourself?
Oh, love, the world opens up.
- You feel safe in your own skin, even when the room is cold.
- You stop needing a constant stream of validation just to keep breathing.
- You stop gripping so hard at other people’s approval because you know, deep in your bones, that you are enough.
- You create without fear of looking ridiculous.
- You rest without justifying it.
- You speak without rehearsing your every word for palatability.
Self-trust creates spaciousness inside you.
And in that spaciousness, you find your curiosity again.
Your creativity.
Your delight. Joy, desire, and all the delicious humanness of you!
You stop surviving, and you start living. *Ginormous sigh of relief*
If you feel disconnected from your inner voice right now…
If you’re feeling a little disconnected from yourself right now... if the noise has gotten too loud, if the old voices are still shouting in your ear... it’s okay.
It’s not a moral failing. It’s just a sign that it’s time to come home.
Start small.
Start with five minutes of stillness.
(Yes, I know it sounds boring. And maybe even a little terrifying. But I promise you: stillness is sacred.)
Put down the phone. Turn off the noise. Close the tabs.
And just listen. If you need to move, tale a walk, but leave your headphones off.
What’s the tone of your inner voice right now?
Is it tender? Harsh? Hopeful? Exhausted?
Stillness will show you where to begin.
Whether it be talking to yourself with a bit more compassion and grace, or with bold empowerment. Depending where you're at.
It's a journey toward befriending yourself, your inner voice.
And trust me, when you get to know the real you, you’re a damn good friend to have.
Why community matters on this journey
Of course, healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum.
We weren’t hurt in isolation, we were hurt in communities, families, workplaces, relationships, and that means we heal best in community too.
That’s why I created Feel Good Rebel Academy.
A safe place off Facebook (because honestly, we deserve better), where Rebels like you can practise coming back to their magic without fear of judgment, ridicule, or shame.
A place where self-trust, sovereignty, and messy, beautiful expression are the whole point, and not some bonus after you “fix” yourself.
Right now, I’m opening the doors for 10 founding members: a soft, powerful circle to walk this path together, with low founding member pricing, loads of bonuses, and a whole lot of heart.
If your soul is whispering yes
if you’re ready to trust yourself a little louder,
to rise a little taller,
to sparkle a little brighter
I would love to witness your rising.
Because here’s what I need you to remember:
You are not missing anything.
You are not behind.
There's nothing wrong with you.
You are already enough.
You are already worthy.
You are already magic.
And no one, no system, no opinion, no fear, can take that from you.
🖤 Trust yourself. You’re the one you’ve been waiting for. *sings in Disney*
